Blue Orange Green Pink Purple

“To my mind, the greatest reward and luxury of travel is to be able to experience everyday things as if for the first time, to be in a position in which almost nothing is so familiar it is taken for granted.” – Bill Bryson

Many life experiences have led me to this place and time… join me as I spend a summer in a small village in Greece where generations of my family have lived and where I now hope to put down a few roots. Along my journey I will write letters to you to share my experiences and hopefully inspire you to create your own wherever you live or travel…

Dinner with Family

We have escaped the construction at the house tonight and checked in at the Elite hotel in Kalamata. We have been having to leave the windows open in the afternoons to allow cement and mortar to dry and therefore haven't been able to run the AC. This leads to unbearably hot naps. We also have to climb in and out of the front bedroom window since the doorway and entrance are being tiled. The living room is piled high with kitchen contents and the hallway is currently narrowed by the stove and a large kitchen cupboard. We have been cornered to just the bedrooms and were getting restless. So this afternoon, my SIL Karin relaxed on the beach and Kolya and I ordered room service and enjoyed the AC. ;)

This evening we headed back to the village for a dinner at Voula's house. The meal was unbelievably fantastic! We had Pastitsio, French Fries with Mizythra Cheese, Salad, Chicken, Meatballs. Rice, Bread and Cheese. Even better was the company! We are truly blessed with wonderful family in Greece.

Voula, Yaya Pota, Kolya, Me, Father Michael, Maria, Vassili, Yaya Stavroula & Aleko
