Dear Friend,
We walk to the bakery just about every morning. The glass counters are filled with sweets and cheese and meat pies. The smell of freshly baked bread wafts through the air. The whole wall behind the counter is stacked with loaves of bread. My favorite is a long loaf covered in sesame seeds and costs only 1,20 Euros making it affordable to go daily and savor the still warm from the oven bread.
Along another wall is a large freezer with shelves of mini ice cream treats. They are about 12 Euros for a kilo and after having them at neighbors' homes a few times, we had to go and pick up a box of our own. It is sort of like opening a box of chocolates and being surprised at what is in the center of each one. My favorite are the butterscotch cones with a drop of fudge in the bottom! Some of the popsicles have a few surprises up their sleeves too including one with a gingerbread cookie inside. Yum!
XOXO,
Karen June
